Our promise to you

At Edah Foundation, people come first, and that includes you. When you donate, volunteer, or follow our work, you trust us with some of your personal information. We take that seriously. This policy explains in plain language what we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

1. What we collect

We only ask for what we need. Depending on how you connect with us, this may include:

  • Your details: name, email address, phone number, and mailing address.
  • Donation information: the amount, date, and payment method. We never store your full card or mobile money PIN details. Payments are handled by secure third-party providers.
  • Volunteer information: your skills, availability, and emergency contact if you join our team.
  • Website data: things like your browser type, device, and the pages you visit, collected through cookies to help us improve our site.
  • Messages: anything you send us through forms, email, or social media.

2. Why we collect it

We use your information to:

  • Process your donations and send you a receipt
  • Thank you and tell you how your support is making a difference
  • Coordinate volunteers and events
  • Share updates, stories, and ways to get involved (only if you’ve agreed to hear from us)
  • Respond to your questions and requests
  • Meet legal and reporting requirements
  • Understand what’s working so we can serve communities better

4. Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information. Ever.

We only share it with:

  • Trusted service providers who help us run things, such as payment processors, email platforms, and website hosts. They may only use your data to do their job for us.
  • Partners or auditors, where needed for accountability and reporting, and with personal details removed whenever possible.
  • Authorities, if the law requires us to.

5. Photos, stories, and the people we serve

The dignity of the people we support matters deeply to us. We only share photos, videos, or stories of beneficiaries, volunteers, or children with informed consent (or a parent or guardian’s consent for minors). If you appear in our materials and want them removed, just tell us.

6. How we keep your data safe

We use secure systems, limited access, and careful practices to protect your information. No system is 100% risk-free, but if something ever goes wrong, we will be open about it and notify you and the relevant authorities where required.

7. How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or to meet legal and financial record-keeping rules. After that, we delete or anonymise it.

8. Your choices and rights

You are in control. You can:

  • Ask to see the information we hold about you
  • Ask us to correct anything that’s wrong
  • Ask us to delete your information (unless we must keep it by law)
  • Opt out of emails or messages at any time, using the “unsubscribe” link or by contacting us
  • Withdraw your consent whenever you wish
  • Complain to us, or to Ghana’s Data Protection Commission, if you feel your data has been mishandled

Just email us and we’ll respond within 14 days.

9. Cookies

Our website uses small files called cookies to make things work and to understand how people use the site. You can turn cookies off in your browser settings, though some features may not work as well.

10. Children’s privacy

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18 without a parent or guardian’s consent. If you believe a child has shared information with us, please contact us and we’ll delete it promptly.

11. Links to other sites

Our website may link to other sites. We’re not responsible for their privacy practices, so please read their policies too.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make important changes, we’ll post the new version on our website and update the date above.
