Our Terms and Conditions

Last updated:

Welcome to Edah Foundation. By using our website, making a donation, signing up as a volunteer, or joining one of our events, you agree to the terms below. We’ve kept the language simple so you know exactly where you stand. If something isn’t clear, just ask us.

1. About us

Edah Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization registered in Ghana. Our work is focused on our fundamental mission which is to bring SMILES to the people in the poorest areas by providing them access to quality education and healthcare. In these terms, “we,” “us,” and “our” mean Edah Foundation, and “you” means anyone who uses our website, services, or programs.

2. Using our website

You are welcome to browse, share, and learn about our work. In return, please:

  • Use the site honestly and lawfully.
  • Don’t try to hack, damage, or disrupt it.
  • Don’t pretend to be someone else or give false information.
  • Don’t copy our content to mislead people or raise money in our name.

We work hard to keep our information accurate, but we can’t promise the site will always be error-free or available without interruption.

3. Donations

  • Every donation is voluntary. Nobody is ever obliged to give.
  • We use donations to support our programs, our beneficiaries, and the running costs needed to deliver our work.
  • If you give for a specific project and that project is fully funded or can no longer go ahead, we may use your gift for a similar cause. We will try to be open about this.
  • Our refund rules are set out in our Refund Policy.
  • Payments are handled by secure third-party providers. We never see or store your full card details or mobile money PIN.
  • We will issue a receipt for every donation. Please tell us if you haven’t received one.

4. Volunteering

We love our volunteers, and we want the experience to be good for everyone. If you volunteer with us:

  • You do so freely, and it is unpaid unless agreed otherwise in writing.
  • You agree to follow our guidelines, safeguarding rules, and reasonable instructions from our team.
  • You will treat beneficiaries, staff, and fellow volunteers with respect and dignity.
  • You must keep personal information about the people we serve confidential.
  • You are not an employee of Edah Foundation, and volunteering does not create an employment relationship.
  • We may end a volunteer placement at any time if conduct falls short of what we expect.

5. Protecting children and vulnerable people

Safeguarding is not negotiable for us. Anyone who works with or around our beneficiaries must follow our safeguarding rules. Any form of abuse, exploitation, or harassment will not be tolerated and may be reported to the authorities. If you have a concern, please speak to us right away using the contact information below.

6. Events and programs

If you register for one of our events or programs:

  • Please give accurate details when you sign up.
  • We may change, postpone, or cancel an event when we need to, and we’ll let you know as soon as we can.
  • Photos and videos may be taken at our events. If you don’t want to appear in them, please tell a member of our team.

7. Photos, stories, and content

  • We only share images and stories of beneficiaries with proper consent, and a parent or guardian’s consent for children.
  • Everything on our website, including text, logos, photos, and videos, belongs to Edah Foundation or is used with permission. Please don’t reuse it without asking us first.
  • If you send us your own photos, stories, or testimonials, you give us permission to use them to promote our work. You can ask us to remove them at any time.

8. Your personal information

We care about your privacy. How we collect and use your information is explained in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

9. Fundraising in our name

If you’d like to raise money for Edah Foundation, whether through a challenge, a campaign, or a community event, please get our written approval first. Anyone fundraising for us must be honest about how the money will be used and must pass on all funds raised. Only authorized people may collect money on our behalf.

10. Links to other websites

Our site may link to other websites. We don’t control them and aren’t responsible for what they say or do. Please check their terms before using them.

11. Limits of our responsibility

We do our best, but we can’t accept responsibility for:

  • Losses caused by things outside our control, such as natural events, internet failures, or payment provider problems.
  • Errors or delays on third-party platforms.
  • Any damage from using our website, beyond what the law requires us to accept.

Nothing in these terms limits any rights you have under the law that cannot be limited.

12. Suspending or ending access

If someone breaks these terms, harms our reputation, or puts others at risk, we may restrict their access to our website, programs, or volunteer roles.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time as our work grows. When we make important changes, we’ll post the new version on our website and change the date at the top. Using our services after that means you accept the updated terms.

14. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Ghana. If a disagreement comes up, we’d like to sort it out through a friendly conversation first. If that doesn’t work, the courts of Ghana will have the final say.
